Carbine-I
This is an entry level course for rifle/AR-15 carbine shooters. This class is geared for those who have not had any formal carbine instruction. It is structured to train the student in minor caliber, optically unaided rifle/carbine skills and techniques. The program is designed to target the individual who may be deploying this weapon system for personal defense.
Students will learn about one of the most popular weapon systems that law enforcement agencies across the country are incorporating into their arsenal. Students will learn: essential law pertaining to AR (California), a brief history, nomenclature, mechanical operation, care & cleaning, preventive maintenance, safety, stance, application of two points sling, manipulations, safe load and unload techniques, zeroing iron sights, sight alignment and trigger control, and shooting positions & stable platforms.

*Only 15 students permitted hense the higher tuition for personal attention

Prerequisite
None/Open to all students & Pistol-I(a) is highly recommended
Class Format
This (8 hrs) day training will be held in class room and on live fire range:
Lecture:.2.5 hours & Lunch 30 minutes
Live Fire Shooting: 5 hours
Carbine-1 Course Subject
The following technique and concepts will be introduced.

Introduction
Students are introduced to basic safety and brief overview of the CA firearms law
4 Basic Firearms Safety Rules
Essential law pertaining to AR (California)
Nomenclature & Mechanical operation
Disassembly and re-assembly of the AR-15 / M-4 rifle
Care & cleaning, preventive maintenance
Understanding projectile trajectory

Weapon Operation
Function checking the AR-15 / M-4 rifle Chamber Check
Fundamentals of shooting a rifle & Elements of Marksmanship
Safe loading and unloading
Trigger Control & Dry Presses
Understanding & Adjusting Iron Sights
Sling use and carry techniques
Assessing and scanning - situational awareness

Live Fire & Combat Shooting
Students are introduced to the concept of Live Fire & Combat Shooting
Presentation: low, high, SUL ready
Sight adjustment (MOA) and zeroing
Confirming mechanical off-set and hold-off POI
Reloading, Malfunctions (basic)
Delivering controlled pairs and accelerated pairs

Shooting positions – standing, squatting, kneeling and prone

Needed Gear
- AR15 or M16 type carbine w/ iron sites (CA compliant for non LEO)
- 2 Magazines - Magazine holder - 200 rounds of ammunition (Students must provide own ammo)
- Standard two point or tactical two point sling is required
- Sturdy belt, Sam-brown, tactical belt
- Ear protection (both outer and inner protections are recommended)
- Eye protection (Prefer clear with no color)
- Hat (highly recommended)
- Knee & elbow pads (optional)
- Shooting mat for prone position (optional)
- Large marking pen
- Hand wipes
- Sunscreen
- Lunch
- Water and snacks (also available on-site for purchase)
- Need a safety tab to insert into the bolt/firing chamber through the dust cover (Also available during the class)
- Appropriate clothing for weather and to prevent hot brass incidents (females: clothing that'll cover chest/breast area)
- Folding Chair
