TAC-1 Pistol-1 module is where defensive shooting starts. This introductory course is designed to teach defensive pistol shooting to beginners and to those who had never received formal training. This class will educate students on the drawing exhibiting concept and technique, application of the Basic Firearms Safety Rules, understanding the use of force doctrine, fundamental of semi-automatic handgun operation and develop their basic marksman skills. Pistol-I module is now a 16 hour program divided into two (2) 8 hour courses- Pistol-I(a) & Pistol-I(b).
Prerequisite: Safe Start program is a must before training this first defensive handgun course. Safety on and off the range, Principles of personal defense, Use of deadly force, Combative mind-set, situational awareness, Elements of handgun marksmanship, basic manipulation of semi-automatic handguns, Drawing and exhibiting from the holster, ready positions, balancing speed and accuracy, and basic malfunction clearing..
Prerequisite: Pistol-1(a). On-Guard / "Fence" Position, Moving off the line of force, Threat assessment and area scanning, Weapon Work Space, Compressed /High Ready Position, Ammunition management and reloading techniques, Combat Reloading vs Tactical Reload, Stove Pipe Malfunction, Double Feed/Failure to Extract Malfunction, Shooting in Pairs, Flash sight picture vs. Perfect sight alignment, Failure Drills, Support Hand shooting.
