TAC-1 Vehicle Tactics and Countermeasure course is designed for law enforcement officers to examine vehicle ballistics and exercise shooting in & around vehicles while maximizing proper cover and concealment. This high paced course will push law enforcement officers to utilize effective shooting positions and safe manipulation of their firearms.

Countless law enforcemnt involved shootings has been documented where vehicle has been involved. Officer's survivability is dictated by their tactics and their proper knowledge in working in and around vehicle. Explore ways to maximize safety and gain a position of advange to counter suspect's deadly attack.

Vehicle Tactics & Countermeasure

The following technique and concepts will be introduced at a reasonable pace for the maximum retention.

Shooting positions & Live Fire Application
Vehicle Ballistics and as Cover • Inside the Vehicle Tactics & Weapons employment
Outside of the Vehicle Tactics and Shooting

Traffic Stop consideration and safe zone
Ambush secnario from inside and outside the vehicle
Long gun emplyment inside and outside the vehicle
NLTA senario training

Students should be relatively fit as this class involves movements in getting in and out of positions. The latter half of each day will be spent utilizing marking cartridges (NLTA) and masks and helmets to allow the students to gain confidence in applying their newly acquired skills against moving aggressive opponents. The student may experience mild to greater than mild physical fatigue.

Equipment List:

Handgun with at least 5 magazines and magazine pouch.
Duty Holster (paddle holsters are not allowed). Holsters must provide an active retention device and be able to keep the holster in place while running or moving in and out of positions. No SERPA or Vanguard type holsters.
If Carbine/Shotgun - must have sling. A minimum of 3 magazines and a method to secure them is required. Carbine needs to be zeroed prior to class.
400 rounds handgun / 100 rounds carbine (no green tip) ammunition / 50 shotgun rounds (optional).
Mask for shooting inside the vehicle with rifle or shotgun
PPE for force on force training.
CAT or SOF T TQ on your person is mandatory and an IFAK is recommended.
Eye protection and electronic ear protection.
Long sleeve shirt, gloves, knee pads are mandatory. Elbow pads and shemagh (face wrap) are optional.
Full duty belt (your normal work setup).
Work gloves to move cars on the range (sharp edges and broken glass expected).
Notepad, pen, perm marker.
Multi tool (Multitasker / Gerber / Leatherman).
Water and snacks.
